Kind Stories

At PlanKind, our mission is to spread something that is truly missing in this world….kindness, empathy, and compassion for each other and the animals we share our planet with. Whether it’s helping people that are battling a life-threatening illness, feeding children who are hungry or homeless, or providing some much-needed cheer to lonely seniors with dementia, we have seen firsthand the incredible impact an Act of Kindness can have on those in need!

We are proud of the work we have done so far and are excited about the growing enthusiasm and support for the unique business we’ve created. To help inspire people to plan their events forward, we’ll continue to highlight some of the kind acts we perform and share these “Kind Stories” on this page of our website and our social media platforms.

Helping Patients
With Cancer

One of our first Acts of Kindness was born from a partnership with Ritz-Carlton Hotels. They just created a wonderful new program called “Community Footprints” which was designed to support the local communities where their hotels are located. They wanted their launch event in Boston to have an impact on those in need within the very same city where their event was taking place. When we spoke with the event organizer, we discovered that she was a cancer survivor and she wanted to help others who were also struggling with this life-threatening illness!

Her story touched us and we sprang into action. After doing a bit of research, we came across a woman in London who was also a cancer survivor herself and created a line of beautiful handmade chemo caps. We delivered several of these headpieces along with stuffed animals to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. The kind act brought tears to the eyes of the patients, the staff, and the families of the children who received them! It not only brought some much-needed cheer to women and children battling this frightening disease, but it also left a meaningful impression on the local community where this event took place.

Bringing Joy & Dignity
To Children In Foster Care

Following the success of the “Community Footprints” launch event, Ritz-Carlton recruited us again to perform another Act of Kindness for a series of events taking place in multiple cities throughout Texas.

When we sat down with the event planner to brainstorm, she told us they would like to help foster care children. So, we reached out to local foster care agencies to determine how we could help. During our research, we discovered that many of these kids participate in “Equine Therapy” programs to help them cope with all the stress that typically comes with growing up in the foster care system. In fact, they have so much fun petting and interacting with the horses, they end up writing them love letters!

After speaking with several agencies, we were heartbroken to find out that many children move from home to home with all their belongings stuffed into trash bags. Upon hearing this, we then came up with a creative way to help these children and restore some much-needed dignity into their lives. We found matching sets of duffle bags and backpacks which they can use to carry their personal belongings and schoolbooks in. What made these extra special is they had horses on them to help remind them of something that brings them so much joy. It was incredible to see the smiles on their faces and know that we were making such a difference in their lives!

Supporting Children
In Underserved Communities

The acts we perform also relate to specific characteristics of the event itself such as a theme, number of guests, or the type of function being planned. When we were asked to perform an Act of Kindness for an event in NYC, we decided to have it relate to the venue where the event took place…Yankee Stadium.

Many people living throughout the New York area are located in lower-income communities that can’t afford to pay for equipment for their youth sports teams. After giving it some thought, we decided to “play it forward” and bring some joy to the kids who participate in these underfunded programs by providing them with brand new baseball gloves and balls. They were absolutely thrilled when they received their gifts which will hopefully inspire them to one day play in the very same stadium where this event took place!

Delivering Much-Needed Cheer
To Young Trauma Patients

This next “Kind Story” was a special event that took place at the magnificent Schwarzman Center at Yale University in New Haven, CT. Since each of the tables in the main banquet hall had centerpieces made up entirely of red roses, we decided to have the kind act we perform for this event relate to the gorgeous floral arrangements being displayed throughout the room.

Following the event, the client wanted their Act of Kindness to benefit sick children at a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center called Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital. After doing some brainstorming, we came up with the idea to bring these children stuffed animals that were holding silk red roses to relate back to the same flowers on display at this event. Needless to say, these adorable animals brought so much joy…not only to the children, but also to the heroic nurses that care for them!
